Sohar aluminum production
Since the production accident occurred in August after the interruption, Sohar aluminum has recently announced the resumption of production.
The company president Al Masoudi said in a statement, the company electrolyzer has power, and gradually realize the production after September 15th, the company is close to and the expert team to return to full production level as soon as possible.
The accident happened in August 4th.
Sohar aluminum is a joint venture company, worth $2 billion 400 million, by the Rio Tinto Alcan company (Alcan) accounted for 20% of the capital, Oman Oil Co (Oman Oil) and Abu Dhabi National Energy Co (Taqa) each accounted for 40%.
Reuters quoted sources said that the smelter may need four to six months to recover the whole operation. About 130 thousand to 150 thousand tons of aluminium capacity is lost.
