In August, China's imports of semi-finished aluminum products fell for the third consecutive month
According to Beijing September 26th news, China's aluminum imports in August for third consecutive months of decline, due to the United States and India imposed punitive tariffs on Chinese aluminum foil, manufacturers failed to find other alternative markets.
Data released by the General Administration of Customs on Tuesday showed that the amount of aluminum imports was 360 thousand tons last month, down 3.2% from a year earlier, down 7.7% from July's 390 thousand tons, the lowest level since February.
Data show that 1-8 months, aluminum semi-finished exports amounted to 2 million 880 thousand tons, an increase of 5.2% over the same period last year.
Last month, the export volume of aluminum foil was 93400 tons, down 4.9% compared with the same period of, the lowest level since February, a decrease of 6% compared with 99408 tons in July.
1-8 months, the export volume of aluminum foil was 794907 tons, an increase of 10.1%.
Last month, the US Department of Commerce decided to impose an 16.56-80.97% countervailing duty on imports of Chinese aluminium foil.
Adkins, director of consultancy Paul, said: "the decline in exports shows that taxes do have some impact."."
"But without taking this factor into consideration, the amount of data has not changed much, and the export volume remains strong."
In August, the export of aluminum bars, bars and profiles decreased by 29% compared with the same period of last year, but aluminum, film and strip exports increased by 15% to 175010 tons.
