Australian High-rise Residential Will Ban Aluminum Curtain Wall Imported Building Materials Will Not Be Affected

In the discussion, the final compromise was to ban the use of aluminum curtain walls in high-rise residential buildings, while the proposal for import bans was shelved.

Import ban has not landed

Recently, by the Building Code Council of Australia (ABCB) hosted the third session of the forum of Ministers building (Building Ministers Forum) held in Brisbane, NSW government called on to take tough measures to eliminate the sale of imported products and illegal construction at the meeting.

The federal industry, innovation and scientific assistant foreign minister Craig Laundy said that governments at all levels will unite to strengthen the fire safety of high-rise buildings, disable combustible building materials have been incorporated into the relevant laws and regulations, and low buildings also need to strengthen supervision.

The Labour Party leader Chaudun at the meeting urged the government to completely ban the use of the polyethylene wall panels in the filling, prohibition of material imports, the Australian real estate association also hold this view. Queensland government officials also expressed the hope that the use of aluminum composite plate of the prohibition of combustible.

However, the federal government has rejected the proposal that labour, too "across the board". Craig Laundy, the Assistant Minister of industry, said that the material that the labor party wanted to ban could be used in restaurants and outdoor signage, and that Australian companies themselves were producing this material. Risk assessment after the alarm bell was made

The Australian Federal Senate in July launched a special investigation for unqualified wall materials, the results released last month, the survey results of Victoria Construction Bureau of investigation in Melbourne area, namely the 170 high-rise buildings found in Melbourne over the past 10 years, the construction of residential and high-rise building exterior wall materials, failure rate as high as 51%.

But according to the report, this does not mean that the safety of building residents in the great threat. Considering the characteristics of buildings, the risk rating of residents in most buildings was rated as moderate or lower. Of the 170 buildings surveyed, only two, or about 1%, were rated as high risk and urgently needed to be repaired.
