Aluminum producers warn of shortages of bauxite supplies in Brazil
According to foreign news on September 25th, the Norway aluminum producer Norsk Hydro warned that there is a risk of shortage of supply of bauxite in Brazil.
Mineracao Rio, do, Norte (MRN) tailings treatment system problems, due to dry weather, resulting in water shortages.
"The force majeure notice has been issued to bauxite clients," Norsk Hydro said in a statement.
MRN bauxite production in 2017 will be reduced by 2 million tons, previously expected to be 1700-1750 tons.
MRN is one of the largest bauxite deposits in the world, with an annual output of 18 million tons.
Brazil is the third largest producer of bauxite in the world, after Australia and china.
