Some Japanese aluminium buyers agreed to pay $95 a tonne for raw aluminium in the fourth quarter

Some two Japanese aluminum buyers agreed to pay $95 a tonne for raw aluminium in the fourth quarter, reflecting a decline in U. S. premium, the sources said Thursday, who were directly involved in the price negotiations.

The new premium slipped second from $118-119 a tonne in the previous quarter, and the price fell for the fourth straight quarter of 19.5-20.2%.

Japan is Asia's No. 1 aluminium importer, and its imports of raw aluminium per quarter, compared to the LME premium of aluminium, are considered regional price benchmarks.

Buyers dealing with individual producers are still negotiating with other global sellers, and many other Japanese buyers are negotiating with all manufacturers and expect further agreement later this month.
