It is expected that Thailand's alumina import will increase in 2017
In order to meet domestic demand, Thailand imports a large amount of alumina from China every year. In the first 9 months of 2017, China exported 258 tons of alumina to Thailand, an increase of 125% compared with the same period last year; France and Japan are the largest source of alumina imports in Thailand.
Data show that in 2015, the total import of alumina in Thailand was 23067 tons, while imports in 2016 fell to 22798 tons. Thailand's alumina imports are expected to reach 23960 tons in 2017.
In 2015, the total import value of alumina in Thailand was 21 million US dollars; the total import value in 2016 was 4300 US dollars; the total import value in 2017 will increase to 56 million US dollars.
